Moisten the straw first with water, before you pull it apart. For this, either wrap it in a moist cloth or spray with water (do not soak in water). Leave for a few hours before you start working with the straw braid. Only sew the braid, do not glue. Once you have finished sewing, press the straw hat into shape.
