Great news for all knitters! I found some more of the much-loved, original soft silk yarn in a gorgeous pale ivory color (antique white)! A wonderful pale blue is now also available in the same quality - specially dyed for the needs of dollmakers!
Maybe some of you already know our wonderful silk cordonnet yarn suitable for fine knitting or crochet (single strand use knitting needle or crochet hook 0.75 mm, double strand use size 1.25)that we have had available in a range of colors for quite a while now. The silk yarn is even suitable for passing through finest seed beads size 11° (available in our shop in a large range of colors) for knitting or crocheting wonderful purses etc (small purse frames available).Great knitting and crochet patterns for dolls have been and are being presented in the Gildebrief.
By accident I now discovered a range of vintage silk cordonnet yarns that have a wonderful sheen not found in those made today. They are a touch thicker and more slippery than our standard silk yarns, yet they possess such irresistable sheen and color that I simply had to present them to you. I found out that these wonderful yarns used to be made in a process that does not conform to our present day environmental standards and therefore cannot be made any more. However, I purchased everything that was still avilable and once these yarns are sold, they are gone for good. So, if you want something very special, grab some while you can!
This type of silk also used to be called "purse-silk" since it was used to knit and crochet purses, with or without beads (use our 11° seed beads - the yarn does fit through their small holes).Use only as a single strand, with a knitting needle 0.75 (if you are a loose knitter) or a 1.00 mm if you are a "normal" knitter (same sizes for crochet).
The yarn is sold in 25 gram balls as is our standard silk cordonnet yarn, but you will need about 25% more than when using the standard yarn, so make sure you purchase enough for your project.
Unfortunately, the Internet does not indicate the beauty of the colors or the sheen and therefore I have attempted to describe the color somewhat.
