This tool is used to cut a groove into the sole leather, as can be seen in  Jumeau shoes. The distance from the edge of the leather can be adjusted. The tool is moved along the edge to cut a precise groove. The groove becomes darker than the rest of the leather when it is dyed.

Use this tool for pressing a groove along the shoe sole as seen in Jumeau shoes. The distance from the leather edge to the groove can be adjusted. Just place the tool against the leather edge and proceed slowly to achieve a perfect groove. Moisten the leather for a stronger groove.
